I deleted the original target and made my new target the active build target.ģ. I opened Xcode and created a new target (using "External Target") and called it "Build with Make". So I looked at it, and it says that you need to run the configure script first or it won't use the Makefile. After I untarred the source, I looked at the main directory, and noticed there's a Makefile there already. I downloaded 8.3.1 and built it with Xcode. This can be due to a window manager for Mac called Magnet, see this.It's something I downloaded.

Mac Intel with 64bit MATLAB is a supported SPM12 platform. Using the command line option as described below will overcome this.

If you use drag-and-drop in Finder to install the updates, it will actually perform a folder copy and not a folder merge so that updated files will be overwritten but unchanged old files will be deleted (see this thread).
